Sources of PM2.5-bound water soluble ions at EMEP’s Auchencorth Moss (UK) supersite revealed by 3D-Concentration Weighted Trajectory (CWT) model

چکیده

The Concentration Weighted Trajectory (CWT) model is a well-known tool which combines the residence time (trajectory points) of air masses over specific regions with ambient concentrations pollutants, aiming to identify potential long range transport impacts. An upgraded 3D-version CWT (3D-CWT), investigating not only geographical origin exogenous emissions but also altitudinal layers in occurs, was developed and coupled PM2.5-bound water soluble ions (nss- SO4−2 (non-sea salt sulfates), NO3−, Cl−, NH4+, Na+, Mg+2, Ca+2 K+) for years 2017–2018, derived by Auchencorth Moss supersite Southeast Scotland, United Kingdom (UK). 3D-CWT implemented two distinct above ground level (0 m ≤ Layer 1 < 1000 m, 2 2000 m), because few trajectory points exceeded limit. Transport Secondary Inorganic Aerosols (SIA) from South – England were detected both vertical layers, affecting SO4−2, NH4+ levels, whilst SIA intrusions Northwest Europe 2. Sea particle North Atlantic Sea, comprising Na+ K+ contributions suggesting impacts biomass burning. Moreover crustal origin, marked enhancement, mainly occurred layer included soil/dust resuspension areas around station infrequent dust Sahara desert.

Patterns and source analysis for atmospheric mercury at Auchencorth Moss, Scotland.

Gaseous elemental (GEM), particulate bound (PBM) and gaseous oxidised (GOM) mercury species were monitored between 2009 and 2011 at the rural monitoring site, Auchencorth Moss, Scotland using the Tekran speciation monitoring system. GEM average for the three year period was 1.40±0.19 ng m(-3) which is comparable with other northern hemisphere studies. PBM and GOM concentrations are very low in ...

Removal of Particle-bound Water-soluble Ions from Cooking Fume Using Bio-solution Wet Scrubber

Wet scrubbers are one of the most important air-pollution control devices (APCDs) for the simultaneous removal of various acidic gases and particulates. This study was conducted on a lab-scale self-designed wet scrubber (WSB) system for the treatment of particle-bound water-soluble ions emitted from cooking fumes with/without adding bio-solution (namely, NOE-7F). The concentration and compositi...

Interactive comment on “Concentration-weighted trajectory approach to identifying sources of Speciated Atmospheric Mercury at an Urban Coastal Site in Nova Scotia, Canada” by I. Cheng

This discussion paper is dedicated to the source apportionment of speciated mercury measured at an urban site at the Canadian east coast by means of backward trajectory modelling. Thus, it approaches several of the above mentioned scientific questions. First of all, long time measurements of speciated mercury are still relatively rare. As such these measurements are worth being published and wi...

Continuous Single-column Model Evaluation at a Permanent Meteorological Supersite

U ncertainties in numerical predictions of global weather and climate can often be linked to the representation of fast diabatic processes that act on such small scales that they remain unresolved by the general circulation model (GCM). Such processes include turbulence, convection, clouds, and radiative transfer (e.g., Bony and Dufresne 2005). The functional relationships included in a GCM to ...
